Finished, Current, Next: From romance to self-help to emotional devastation.
It's been an emotionally turbulent week.
What a good reading week! I read my first Abby Jimenez book (check out my review below). I delved into one of my first self-help books. This is a big step for me. Then, I ended the week jumping into a book that I know will emotionally devastate me (the first book of the series already did). Deep breaths.
Check out the footers for extra commentary ;)
Finished
A Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez1
Tier 2: Hey, I had a good time.2
If you like small town vibes, amazing banter and chemistry between the two main characters, a really funny supporting cast, a naughty but endearing dog, a baby goat, a story that will make you glow with happiness and sob with heartache - this is for you!
Wow I was blown away, and I don’t say that lightly. Usually, I’m quite suspicious of viral romance books. But I finished this book in one sitting. You know how sometimes you don’t feel the chemistry of the characters, you don’t understand their motives, and you just cringe at them - that was not the case here. I loved the vibe, the characters, and I deeply understood their motivations. I won’t spoil it, but towards the end I was sobbing because I felt their longing and pain, and just how much they loved each other. And the animals featured in this book - stop - they’re so cute!
If you’re like me and generally suspicious of viral romance books - you won’t regret picking this one up! (If I’m wrong, feel free to yell at me, I might subliminally hear it).
Very small amount of spice.3

Preview: Cute but nothing mind-blowing.
Preview: Look, I’m turning my life around, okay? And it feels fucking good.
Reading next
The Trouble With Peace by Joe Abercrombie.4
Preview: I’ve already started a few pages, but you know Joe Abercrombie is going to kill me, so I need to emotionally prepare myself a little bit more before I jump back in.

My rankings:
Tier 1: This is now my whole personality.
Tier 2: Hey, I had a good time.
Tier 3: I guess it was alright.
Tier 4: No.
I know - disappointing. But sometimes it’s nice to leave things to the imagination.
Guys, I usually have multiple books going at once and I switch between them depending on my mood, so don’t come at me if there’s not a natural progression from reading next to currently reading to finished. Some books may just drop into the abyss of my mind.
What a great trade deadline!
